This is a 1960 Gretsch 6186 Clipper Sunburst Electric Guitar.
It weighs 5 lbs 10 oz. 25″ scale, 1.72″ nut width.
Introduced in ’58, the 6186 Clipper was an affordable and simple Gretsch hollowbody.
Affordable, basic, and straight to the point!
Built as well as the higher-end models, and once you’ve got this dialed in, it plays and sounds exactly like the big boys.
The maple hollow-body combines excellent warm acoustic resonance and that maple articulation for a sweet, balanced overall tone.
The Hi-Lo Tron pickup grabs up this natural tone and adds its complex mid character to the mix.
Clean, clear, almost 50’s voicing. Imagine rockabilly, roots-rock, blues, country picking, it’s capable of it all.
It responds well to overdrive as well, really bringing out the low end mids.
It’s in excellent overall condition, especially for a 60 year old guitar.
The neck is straight, and the frets are clean. Some light normal play wear, but nothing that effects the performance at all.
