About This Vintage Ad

The Gibson L-5 has been Gibson’s top line guitar since 1922 when it was introduced. As the decades past it grew from 16″ to 17″ & by 1939, they had a cutaway design available for those wanting the extra access to the top frets. Now comes the late 50’s as the big bands were still hot as hell & many entertainers were requesting some special orders from the Gibson factory. This is an all original example from 1977 having a Dark Wine Red finish complimented by its all gold hardware. She has a very nice carved spruce top w/its slightly figured carved maple back & sides. Its 3 piece flamey maple neck has some play time as does the whole guitar from its 1st owner. Its bound block inlayed fingerboard feels & plays great. She’s equipped w/its original Kluson Deluxe Sealfast tuners, its tun-a-matic bridge & its witch hat knobs. Its serial # is a period correct decal on back of its headstock. A perfect bound tortoise’gard was just added to finish her off & now ready for its next caretaker w/no cracks nor touchup ever ! Other than it having the owners band name etched in the finish just below the heel (the AETC Band), its still in excellent all original condition & comes in an original black tolex/purple lined hard case.
