Description
This is a very early Pre Ernie Ball Music Man Stingray Bass that has been refinished to a beautiful Inca Silver Finish. This is all original but has new frets, a near total refinish and a new input jack. The pickups, pots, epoxy preamp and all of the hardware along with all of the wood are original so this does have the essence of a Pre Ernie Ball Stingray Bass.
The body is a refinished Inca Silver body with all original hardware including the mute kit. The neck is an original Music Man Stingray Neck and everything on it is refinished except for the face of the headstock. All of the electronics are original including an epoxy covered preamp and this has a 1977 pickup with raised A and D poles. There is a routed area in the pickup cavity that I call the thunder pocket because it seriously improves the depth and the body of the tone. The bass weighs 11 pounes and 3.8 ounces.
Finally this has a Vintage Style Tolex Hardshell Case.
Condition
This bass is absolutely in fantastic shape. I want to mention first on the back of the headstock there is some cracking which has been repaired. The repair is absolutely solid. There also was once some different tuners which has left some exposed screw holes in the back of the headstock. Outside of that the bass is in absolutely fantastic shape.
The finish looks fantastic, it is also basically new so that makes sense. The frets are in great shape as well. The metal has some patina on it but that makes sense for the age and looks good. This is in great shape with clean and functional electronics and a clean tolex case.
This bass is gorgeous and set up and ready to go and delivers the Pre Ernie Ball Stingray experience.
