Description
The Pre Ernie Ball Stingray Basses from the 1970’s are some of the finest instruments known to man. The Basses made in 1976 and the early part of 1977 possess a type of tone that is unforgettable and these are the most popular. This is one of these basses and a special touch is the fact it has rare white pickups.
The bass is an ash body with a natural finish which is original. The bass has a one piece maple neck which has original finish, frets and an original nut. All of the hardware is chrome and is also original.
This also has original John Holmes Long Pole Pickups along which is very significant. The pole pieces on the pickup extend beneath the pickup casing into a routed out pocket in the body. The tone that comes from this set up is extraordinary and these long pole pickups were only used until the beginning of 1977.
The bass is all original except for a new input jack and includes an original case. This weighs 10 pounds 11.6 ounces.
Condition
This bass is absolutely in fantastic condition. The body has a bit of finish rubbed off on the front from an arm resting on the body. There also is a bit of buckle wear. The frets are in fantastic shape all the way down and all of the hardware is super clean. The original case is also in fantastic shape.
Make no mistake this is one of the finest electric bass guitars ever made. Finding any Pre Ernie Ball Stingray has become extremely difficult, especially one this early. If you want the tone you have found it.
