“Note: The original nut on this bass was both broken and loose. Our tech fashioned a new one out of Bison bone and it’s as good as, if not better than new. The original nut will be included with the bass.
I can start out by saying that if this bass were right-handed, it would never leave the shop. It plays, sounds and feels that nice. I guess I ate too many dummy cookies back in the ’80s because I was never really aware of these FugiGen-made instruments then and if I had been, I would have saved myself a lot of money and bought every one I could get my hands on.
The JBD-62/L designation stands for “1962 Reissue, domestic market only, left-handed.” This bass was hanging on a stand at the Arlington Guitar show a couple of months ago and when I walked past it that Sunday morning, I couldn’t help but stop. It’s a true testament to how serious the craftsmen in Matsumoto were when they assembled these instruments and besides, we rarely get a chance to offer our lefty clients something that’s as clean, cool and quality as this bass is.
The bass is super tidy, but there are a few light pick swirls on the pickguard and two dings on the edges. Other than these imperfections, the bass doesn’t show and signs of playwear. The Oly White color is nice and even and we have housed the bass in a sturdy TKL hardshell case.
We’re always excited to offer up unique and special instruments when the opportunities present themselves, so take a look at the pictures and call, email or PM with any questions!”
